Creative Jewelry Storage Ideas

It isn’t uncommon for our jewelry boxes to get messy and become a tangled ball of necklaces. We’ve all been there. Jewelry, no matter how fancy, should be stored in a safe place. Even those who aren’t ardent jewelry collectors can still benefit from getting baubles, bangles, rings, and strings organized so that they don’t get damaged.

Since we all are still socially distancing, or at the very least spending more time at home, now is a better time than ever to get creative and untangle that intimidating web of rings and trinkets in your jewelry box. Time to up your jewelry storage game. If you are in need of a little inspiration to jumpstart and motivate you, you’ve come to the right place. Here are some helpful ideas for organizing your jewelry and finding a safe haven for your most prized pieces.

How to Safely Store Your Jewels

Most gemstones and delicate necklaces can easily become damaged if not stored in a safe place. Even harder gemstones like rubies can fall victim to scratches if stored in tight quarters with other precious gems. To keep your jewelry in its best condition, you may want to divide your pieces up by material, type, and how often you wear them. For pieces that you only wear on special occasions, consider a separate long-term storage solution.

Gold Jewelry - For all the gold lovers of the world, it is best that you store your gold jewelry away from hard gemstones since it is a relatively delicate and malleable metal. Store your gold pieces by themselves in a soft cloth bag or in the original box from your jewelry store

Silver Jewelry - If you prefer silver over gold, here is how to store your silver jewelry. Silver requires a super dry environment to prevent them from tarnishing. There is a special kind of tarnish-proof cloth that you may want to consider buying to store your silver rings and necklaces. Also, never allow your silver jewelry to come in contact with anything that is made of rubber, like rubber bands for instance. The sulfur in the rubber will tarnish your silver jewelry.

Diamonds - Diamonds are a girl’s best friend, right? Even more of a reason that you’ll want to keep these luxurious beauties in a safe place and away from your other jewelry. Since diamonds are one of the hardest materials on the planet, they can easily scratch and damage more delicate gemstones, golds, and other precious metals. Make sure you keep your diamonds in a soft cloth pouch to prevent them from damaging your other pieces.

Jewelry You Wear Daily - For jewelry that you wear on a daily basis, you may want to consider storing them in a smaller, more accessible jewelry box on top of your dresser or vanity. You also might want to consider a jewelry tray for frequently worn pieces and or a hanging organizer for necklaces and bracelets. This way you can see all of your options without having to rifle through your larger jewelry box.

Creative Jewelry Storage Ideas

Time for the fun part. There are a whole host of options for storing your jewelry. Get creative and come up with your own jewelry storage solutions. But if you need some ideas, we’ve got your back!

Rings - Who doesn’t love a stash of clunky crystal rings or delicate stackable gold bands? Keeping your rings accessible and safe should be a top priority. Consider installing a drawer divider that is specifically for storing rings. Trinket boxes are a cute idea and look great on any dresser. There are also ring holders and ring cones that make stacking rings super simple. If you want to get really wild, you could get a mannequin hand and place your rings on the fingers for safe storage when you’re not wearing them.

Necklaces - Necklaces can easily become tangled and are prone to getting permanently bent if not cared for properly. Necklace stands are a popular solution, as are fake branches and necklace hangers that can easily be mounted on the back of the bathroom or bedroom door.

Bracelets - One really popular and appealing storage solution for bracelets are stackable bracelet boxes. You can even get plain square boxes from your local arts and crafts store and decorate them yourself for added personalization.
