How to Choose the Right Necklace

How to Choose the Right Necklace

Jeweler’s Touch has a vast collection of necklaces. Our catalog includes diamond necklaces, pearl necklaces, and fashion necklaces. We will look at some of these in our tips for finding just the right necklace for you. The choices can be overwhelming but here’s a guide to help you know what to look for.

What Type of Necklace Suits You?

Necklaces come in a nearly limitless choice of styles, shapes, and forms as well as price points. We offer selections from leading brands like Gabriel & Co., Ela Rae, and Allison Kaufman. A necklace can include many types of gemstones to make it unique and personal. The types of necklaces we offer include:

Fashion Necklaces

Elegant and sophisticated, our fashion necklaces are made of 14K yellow gold, white gold, or sterling silver and can feature birthstones, beads, and large pendants. Some items are simple while others are a mix of materials and design elements.

Pearl Necklaces

Pearls offer a beautiful shine and timeless beauty. They’re a perfect addition to a necklace that can be classic or modern yet trendy. Pearls can be complemented by diamonds and other gems. They can also be a focal point or adorn a necklace in various arrangements.

Diamond Necklaces

Diamonds never go out of style and provide a strong, eternal, and pure presence. A diamond necklace can be of virtually any design that incorporates shimmering stones. No matter the statement or message, the necklace will shimmer, dazzle, and stand out on any occasion.

Tips for Finding a Necklace

You may be tempted to pick the first necklace that stands out to you. But there are various things to think about, particularly body proportion, before you start to match necklaces with your outfit. Here’s what you should look at:

Necklace Length

Where do you want the necklace to sit? Necklaces are sold in even-inch lengths, in sizes accounting for the average fit. Consider your personal physique when delving more into the length of the necklace, and what you want to highlight. Here are a few examples of traditional lengths:

  • On the Neck: 14 inches
  • Base of the Neck: 16 inches
  • Collarbone: 18 inches
  • Between the Collarbone and Bust: 20 inches
  • Top of the Bust: 22 to 24 inches
  • Middle of the Bust: 26 to 28 inches
  • Waist: 30 to 36 inches

Necklace Shape

Rounded necklaces are more traditional and have a more horizontal form than, for example, V-shaped necklaces. Rounded versions suit a smaller frame while a V-shape softens stronger features. It creates a more vertical form that covers a longer area, adding length to your neck or frame.

Neck Size

Measure around your neck and down to your preferred focal point. A string or another necklace can be used to estimate neck size. When you know your measurement, add two inches to comfortably fit a choker-style necklace and add about four inches for a pendant or name necklace (include the pendant’s length and width).

Face Shape

A necklace can help frame your facial features. Select a shorter one to broaden the perception of a longer-shaped face. However, a longer necklace better suits someone with a rounder face. Just about any necklace trend works with a more oval-shaped face. A necklace can therefore be a great accessory for anyone.
